Three steps (the setup, the lead-in and the drop), the key points, three common mistakes, why you shouldn't go for the widest butterfly, and a quick drill you can do at home.
Key points
- Eyes: on the puck.
- Chest and shoulders: up and forward.
- Hands: out in front, right where they were in your stance.
- Core: tight, like you're bracing for a hit.
- Knees: together. Your hips rotate in so your thighs point inward.
- Pads and stick: flat on the ice, five-hole covered. Drop with your weight slightly forward, never back.
