The short version
- Accounts are for grown-ups. A parent or guardian creates the account and takes the Game Plan quiz with their goalie.
- We collect only what we need to run the site: an email address for accounts, quiz answers to build a Game Plan, and the clips and details parents choose to send us.
- We don’t sell information, we don’t show ads, and we don’t use advertising or tracking cookies.
- Parents can ask to see or delete their goalie’s information at any time: email hello@stackthepads.com.
Who we are
Stack the Pads (“we”, “us”) runs StackthePads.com, a goalie lesson site from Coach Jeffrey. Questions about this policy or about your goalie’s information go to hello@stackthepads.com.
Children and parents
Stack the Pads is built for young goalies and the grown-ups who help them. We follow the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We set the site up so that personal information comes from parents and guardians, not from children:
- Accounts: you must confirm you’re 18 or older to create an account. A parent or guardian should create the account for a goalie under 18.
- The Game Plan quiz: a parent or guardian confirms they’re taking the quiz with their goalie. The quiz asks for the goalie’s first name or a nickname (so families with more than one goalie can tell plans apart), an age range, years in net and answers to goalie questions. It never asks for a last name, email or other contact information. We suggest a nickname.
- Clips: a parent or guardian must send clips for goalies under 18, and confirm they have the right to share them.
- Arcade high scores: players enter three letters (initials) only.
If we learn that we collected personal information from a child under 13 without a parent’s consent, we’ll delete it. If you think that’s happened, email hello@stackthepads.com.
What we collect and why
Information you give us
- Account: email address and password. We store the password only in scrambled (hashed) form. We use your email to log you in and to contact you about your account.
- Game Plan quiz: your goalie’s first name or nickname, age range, years in net, quiz answers and the confirmation that a parent or guardian took the quiz. We use these to build your goalie’s Game Plan. An account can have more than one goalie, and you can remove a goalie (and everything tied to them) from your Account page.
- Game Plan progress and journal: lessons marked complete, and any journal entries you write (including quick ratings and the goal worked on). We use these to show your goalie’s streak and badges. These are private to your account. We ask that entries stay about hockey, with no last names, team names, schools or other personal details.
- Clips for Film Review and Save of the Week: the parent or guardian’s name and email, the goalie’s first name, age group, team, Instagram handle (optional), notes and the video or video link. We use these to review the clip, reply to you and, only if you say it’s OK, feature the clip.
- Subscriptions: if you go Unlimited, Stripe handles your payment. We never see or store your card number. We keep your Stripe customer ID and subscription status so we know your account is Unlimited.
Information collected automatically
- Which breakdowns your account opens each month, so we can apply the free-account limit.
- Basic server logs kept by our hosting provider (like IP address, browser type and pages requested), used to keep the site running and secure.
We don’t use analytics trackers, advertising networks, social media pixels or behavioral advertising.
Cookies
We use two cookies, and both are needed for the site to work:
- Login cookie (
stp_session): keeps you logged in for up to 60 days, or until you log out. - Game Plan cookie (
stp_quiz): remembers a finished quiz for up to 90 days, so you can see the Game Plan after you create an account.
We don’t track you across other websites, so browser “Do Not Track” signals don’t change anything here.
How we share information
We don’t sell or rent personal information, and we don’t share it for advertising. We share it only with the companies that help us run the site, and only so they can do that work for us:
- Vercel: website hosting, and storage for uploaded video clips.
- Neon: our database (accounts, quiz results, progress, journal entries and clip details).
- Stripe: subscription payments and billing.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our users.
Featured clips: if a parent or guardian checks “OK to post,” we may feature the clip on Instagram (@stack_thepads) or on this site. We use the goalie’s first name and age group only, never a last name. We use no other identifying details without the parent’s permission. Email us any time to have a featured clip taken down.
How long we keep information
- Account, progress and journal: until you delete the account. You can do that any time from your Account page (Delete my account), and it takes effect right away. If you email us instead, we remove the information within 30 days.
- Quiz results not linked to an account: deleted after 90 days.
- Login sessions: deleted once they expire.
- Clips and clip details: kept until we’ve reviewed them, and for featured clips, as long as the feature is up. We delete them sooner if you ask.
- Payment records: Stripe keeps these under its own policy, and as tax and accounting laws require.
Parents’ rights
A parent or guardian can, at any time:
- See the information we have about their goalie or their account
- Ask us to correct or delete it
- Tell us to stop collecting or using it (this may mean closing the account)
You can delete your account yourself from your Account page. For anything else, email hello@stackthepads.com from the address on the account or clip submission. We may ask a question or two to confirm you’re the parent or account owner before we share or delete anything. We’ll respond within 30 days.
Keeping information safe
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS) across the site, scrambled (hashed) passwords and secure login cookies. Only Stack the Pads can open the admin area where clips are reviewed. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and collect as little as we can.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. Before we use personal information in a significantly different way, we’ll tell account holders by email and, where the law requires it, ask a parent’s permission first.
